Review of Best 8 Inches Digital Frames

I bought this digital photo frame last week for my old parents (they can not use PC).
It came with a ver 1.0.0 firmware and I updated it to the newest ver 1.1.2 I got from
Viewsonic web site before I started to use it. I saved about 200 photo files and 10 mp3
music files in a SD memory card and played it with the slideshow with background music.
It worked well. The picture was very beautiful.
But when I added more photo files (about 3,000) into the SD card and played it again,
it did not work. When I start the slideshow with music it rebooted itself. I tried many
times and got the same result.
This frame has a 512MB internal memory and its display resolution is 800 x 600. So I resize
my picture files to fit the 800 x 600 size. As you know the JPEG 800 x 600 file is very small
size, just about 150 – 300 KB. I saved about 2,500 resized photo files and 1 mp3 file in its
internal memory and tried to play the slideshow with music, but the result was the same -
it only rebooted itself.
I wrote a report to the Viewsonic customer support but have not got any answer yet.
I hope they could fix this problem soon.
The Swiftouch buttons are too difficult to use for me. Some buttons are so sensitive
and some are almost not functional. Sometimes they respond very slowly that makes you
hardly to know if you pushed the button correctely or not. These buttons are very confused!
The new firmware comes with a random slideshow setting function, but it shows the same
picture just after some other pictures again and again. It also shows the pictures in
the same order when your switch on the power to start the slideshow.
If I did not have so many photoes to play the slideshow with music and if I did not care
about the poor random slideshow function and Swiftouch buttons, it might be a very good
digital photo frame for me. But now I am going to return it after I find a better one.
